First Class Air Travel varies greatly
The most important element of flying first class is not the food or service, but rather your seat and whether you can sleep. This varies by the airline so choose carefully.
The benefits of first class air travel are numerous. However, it really boils down to getting you to your destination without hassle and in reasonably good shape to carry on business or enjoy your vacation. The last part depends largely on whether you can get a good night's sleep.
Airlines who target first class passengers have created:
- No wait or minimum wait lines when passengers check in,
- Special lounges at airports to freshen up and to conduct business,
- More comfortable seating and in some cases flat seats that turn into beds,
- Serve better food and beverages, and
- Provide for laptop computers and other business devices.
First Class passengers are still subject to arriving 1-2 hours before a flight is scheduled to depart. And they are also subject to security check-in procedures at airports. In addition, first class passengers also are limited by the schedules of the airlines they choose to fly with.
What matters most is the Seat
The most important consideration for your trip, especially if you are flying to an international destination is your seat.
Not all first class seats are created equal.
If you are going to fly international first class then you might as well fly with the airline that has the most comfortable seats. International first class seats come in various sizes. There are four types:
- Recliner Seats- offer good space and comfort, but you can't sleep on them,
- Lie-Flat Seats: these are flat but at an angle which prevents you from really sleeping,
- Flat Bed Seats: completely flat and yes, you can sleep on them, and
- Suites: Only offered by Emirates Airlines and includes a flat bed, work station and television. Definitely worth it if you need privacy and want to sleep.
