Formula for eating healthy food

Believe it or not, most of us don't have a clue of what it means to eat healthy. We order a veggie sandwich on whole wheat with mayo and cheese. Well, we were at least on the right track with the veggies.
Seriously though, what can a normal person do who wants to lose weight and eat healthier. One formula that we have used is to try to eat foods that don't require a lot of processing. When it comes to fruit and vegetable this is easy.
Here are a few examples:
- Instead of drinking orange juice try eating just a navel orange. You'll gey the juice, the roughage, the vitamins and you'll skip the additives. Wow isn't that novel. This is applicable to all those fruit juices by the way.
- Instead of eating french fries eat a baked potato. You'll avoid the added calories from frying and the fats that will clog your arteries. Skip the butter and margarine and try some low-fat yogart on the baked potato.
- Canned veggies, frozen veggies, fresh veggies- it really does not matter if you are only going to fry it, add bacon fat to it or drown it in a fatty dressing or sauce.
Please share some of your ideas too or ask a question
